Wireless Pan/Tilt Internet Camera

IP surveillance systems are quickly gaining ground over conventional CCTV security cameras due to superior performance and reduced cost. The D-Link DCS-5220 wireless Internet camera is a powerful surveillance system that features 802.11g wireless connection and the ability to view live video streams from a 3G mobile phone or PDA. Designed as a standalone system complete with CPU and web server, light sensitive lens, motorized pan/tilt, digital zoom, and advanced video/sound surveillance remote monitoring utility, and this camera presents a powerful yet low-cost solution for demanding home/offce security needs.

Equipped with a light sensitive lens, this camera is capable of capturing video in rooms with minimal lighting. It features a motorized pan/tilt capability, allowing images to be monitored from different angles, and a digital zoom for greater remote viewing options. This camera allows users to monitor video and audio using an Internet browser from any where in the world. Simple installation procedures, along with the built-in web-based interface, offer easy integration to any network environments.

The live camera feed of the camera can be pulled from the 3G cellular network by using a compatible cell phone or PDA with a 3G video player. From anywhere within the 3GPP service area, users are offered a fexible and convenient way to remotely monitor a home or offce in real time.

For effective surveillance in and around a building, this camera comes with a built-in high-speed 802.11g wireless network interface, allowing images to be transmitted at up to 54Mbps wireless speed. In addition, a 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet port is also provided for convenient connection to an Ethernet network or to a broadband Internet via a gateway router. The camera can be accessed and viewed from any network place as a device on the network

Instead of recording 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, images can be recorded to a computer hard drive only when motions are detected. This saves disk space and eliminates the time wasted to view unnecessary images. Images can be recorded manually or according to a pre-set schedule. Playback consumes little time with triggered event browsing and fast database searching. Software is included to let users view up to 16 cameras on a single computer screen at one central location. Users can set up automated e-mail alerts for sending through the Internet to be alarmed instantly of all unusual happenings. The camera adheres to the Universal Plug-n-Play specifcation, which allows computers running Windows XP/ME to automatically recognize the camera and add it to the network. By signing up with one of the many free Dynamic DNS services available on the web, users can assign an easy-to-remember name and domain to the camera (e.g. ww.mycamera.myddns.com). This allows them to remotely access the camera without having to remember the IP address, even if their Internet Service Provider has changed it.
